Reynaldo Atesiano Matos, a native of Havana, Cuba, moved to the United States in 2009 and became an American citizen in 2014. He began martial arts training at the age of 8 and ultimately achieved Master Level in Tae Kwon Do. During his 10 years of active martial arts practice he was also trained in karate, judo and self-defense.
Master Trainer Irene Pulli introduced Reynaldo to the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®. He began his teacher training under Irene, obtaining his Level 1 apprentice certification in 2011. He went on to achieve GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® Level 1 full teacher training certification in 2012, and Level 2 certification in 2014.
In 2012, Reynaldo became a certified practitioner of the Level 1 Rice Release Technique for treatment of muscle tension. He achieved certification on the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® Jumping-Stretching Board and Gyrotoner® specialized equipment in 2013, and certification on the Archway in 2014.
Reynaldo has a devoted following of GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® clients ranging widely in age and ability, including former San Diego Padres pitcher Tyson Ross and other professional and amateur athletes and dancers. Reynaldo’s mother was a professional dancer, so dance and music became an integral part of his life at a very early age. He enjoys salsa and Afro-Cuban dance and plays a variety of percussion instruments, focusing on Afro-Cuban and other popular Latin rhythms. Rey is fluent in Spanish, English and Italian. He and his wife Irene live in San Diego with their sons Luca and Matteo.
